New Year’s & Weight Loss

Our New Year’s Day was wonderful. Jason and I spent a much needed day at home, relaxing and enjoying each others company. I couldn’t resist the temptation to spend most of the day cooking (duck, black eyed peas, cabbage, spinach and broccoli & rice casserole). If you want to know more about the food you can check out this post – I’m not going to elaborate on it here. It was yummy though.

After dinner Jason and I went to the gym where my workout proceeded to kick my butt. After the gym we met some friends at Flying Saucer in Garland, by midnight we were at home and in bed. I was exhausted.

I realize that it is Saturday and I have not make a weight loss post this week. Yesterday, was the official one month marker for my diet, I have six months to go and as promised I took my measurements to check my progress. As of yesterday, my weight is still holding at around 161 (give or take a pound depending on how much water I drink). Just as I suspected, though my weight hasn’t changed my body has. I have lost a total of 7.75″! Sweet!

This revelation has made me think differently about my weight goals and my diet. I am realizing that weight isn’t an accurate measure of someone’s health. My 125 pound goal may never be achievable as long as I am lifting weights. Therefore I am going to revise my goals. My main goal is going to be size not weight. Though I will (obviously) continue to measure my weight it will not be the sole determinate of success or failure.

The good news in all of this is that I have some concrete feedback from my body, I know that what I am doing is working and working well! All I have to do now I keep it up for six more months.
